Ministry Teams Serving Opportunities

To encourage you to get involved, we have put together the following list that identifies the various ministry opportunities to serve the Lord.

"For we are God's workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do."
- Ephesians 2:10

DISCIPLESHIP (C,F,H,I)

Singles Discipleship

Participate in a monthly gathering with single college/young adults to experience meaningful spiritual growth, build community, and enjoy the Gospel together. Navigating life as a single young adult has unique opportunities and challenges requiring wisdom and discernment, helping us stay in the center of God’s will and live in a way that honors Him. Gatherings will consist of prayer, growing in relationship to God and to one another, and growing in our faith as we read a Christian book relevant to this season of life together. Occasionally, we will break bread together and engage in interactive activities for fun and fellowship. We currently gather on the 1st Sunday of every month at 4 pm, 10 months out of the year from January – October.

Praise Discipleship

Participate in a monthly gathering to cultivate a deeper and more authentic relationship with God and a lifestyle of worship. As members of the praise team, we invite the Holy Spirit to speak to us and create in us a deeper attitude of humility, obedience and submission to God as we use our musical talents to glorify and honor to Him. Through worship, we open ourselves up to God’s presence, love, and transformative power to reform our inner desires and realign our priorities. We currently gather on the 2nd Sunday of every month at 4 pm, 10 months of the year from January – October.

Small Groups

Participate in a monthly gathering to study scripture, experience community and fellowship focused on applying the Gospel to everyday life. Led by small group facilitators, groups will be based on geographical region and open to all members who desire to grow in their faith, deepen their relationships with God and support one another on a more personal level beyond Sunday services. Small groups provide a space for members to experience ongoing spiritual renewal and restoration that compels us to lay down our lives so that Christ can be seen in us. The small group curriculum will direct discussions and times of personal reflection focused on six key areas: (1) Gospel Identity; (2) Gospel Growth; (3) Gospel Love; (4) Gospel-Centered Life; (5) Gospel-Centered Community; and (6) Gospel-Centered Parent. Small groups provide a comfortable setting for new members/believers to live in Christian community and reach out to others. Small groups will meet at various times and locations each month, 10 months of the year from January – October.

Married Bible Study

Participate in a monthly gathering designed to help couples build healthy and Gospel-centered marriages and apply biblical wisdom to marriage, parenting and family life. A biblical resource centered on marriage and/or parenting will be selected to guide our time together. We currently gather on the 4th Sunday of every month at 4:30 pm, 10 months of the year from January – October.

Student Ministries

Help kindergarten, elementary, Jr. high, or high school students so they can develop a strong biblical foundation and a personal relationship with God. Volunteers will devote their time to help prepare for Sunday worship services and activities respective to the age group chosen and/or assigned.

Fellowship (A,C,G)

In Reach

Assist in retreats and seasonal fellowships that create opportunities for us to enjoy time with God and with one another. In-reach efforts cultivate an environment that engages and strengthens believers within the congregation, so that all members feel connected and can actively contribute to the health and life of the body. This ministry encourages biblical fellowship as a means of receiving God’s grace through speaking the truth in love, encouraging and serving one another, and being the hands and feet of Christ to one another. It seeks to build unity and love for one another to represent the love of Christ together as one body to the world around us. Some seasonal fellowships consist of the Annual Chili Cook-off, Christmas gift exchange, Annual Church-wide picnic, etc.

Worship (C,I)

Praise Team

As an overflow of your intimate walk with God, serve with your voice and/or an instrument during corporate worship. Members will attend practices and be in prayer before service to be musically and spiritually prepared to lead the congregation in praise.

Ministry (A,B,D,E,G)

Hospitality

Create a warm and welcoming environment for members and visitors, greeting everyone at Sunday service, following up on newcomers by providing directions, answering questions, and guiding them to the appropriate places and people within the church. This team will oversee the welcome experience for visitors, including visitor cards and welcome packages, help returning visitors connect with the ministries of the church, and aim to make everyone feel the love of Christ as they participate in our worship services and events.

Member Care

Extends Christ-like love and compassion to members during times of absence, illness, grief, or other challenging situations through emails (with Sunday sermon, and YouTube Link by Sunday evening or Monday morning), phone calls and care packages, as appropriate.

Intercessory Prayer

Members of this ministry will actively pray for the specific expressed needs of individuals and families who reach out to this ministry. This team will intercede throughout the week and be available to pray for anyone in need immediately following Sunday services, as necessary. They will create prayer cards and a prayer box as another means by which members and guests can share their prayer requests.

Multimedia

Provide technical support through various forms of electronic media to enhance worship experiences, create engaging content, and communicate Christ’s love through digital platforms. This ministry supports multiple levels at which we want the Gospel to be clearly communicated.

  • Audio/Visual Ministry: Setup and operate the sound system (mixer/cables/speakers) and visual presentation system (computer/projector/lights/slides) during church gatherings such as Sunday services, Congregational Prayer, Good Friday service, New Year’s Eve service and other ministry events. Sunday services include setting up the A/V in the cry room and recording/publishing the sermon on YouTube.

  • Webmaster Ministry: Maintain the EM website with weekly announcements and updates.

  • Photography Ministry: Capture photos of church services, gatherings, baptisms, outreaches, and retreats that reflect our Christ-centered values and impact.

  • Design Ministry: Design cards, posters, banners, and apparel for the ministry. Create missions, retreat, and end of the year annual slideshows, including any future ministry events.

Evangelism (A,B,D,E,G)

Be involved in monthly and/or seasonal opportunities to discover ways we can evangelize to people around us:

Love LA

Partner with a local missional organization where we can be the hands and feet of Christ for the greater LA area.

Operation Christmas Child

Prepare, collect, and deliver shoe boxes filled with gifts for children in need around the world each Christmas as a way to share the Gospel and love of Christ in a tangible way. Facilitate the purchase and packing of gifts, order promotional materials, and coordinate delivery of shoe boxes to the drop-off center. For more information, visit https://www.samaritanspurse.org/.

Compassion Bags

Provide for the practical and emotional needs of individuals experiencing hardship in our local community to extend Christ’s compassion outside our church walls. This ministry exists to minister mercy to those experiencing homelessness by preparing and providing bags consisting of non-perishable snacks and encouraging Bible verses. The bags will be distributed by our church members as they encounter individuals in need.

Summer Missions

Serve on a short-term mission to share your faith and serve communities in need through hands-on ministry and outreach activities as an opportunity to live out our Gospel identity and be on mission with God. Be a sender through your prayers and financial support for those serving on mission.

Sponsor Child

Extend Christ’s love and care for a child living in poverty through your monthly financial support, prayers, and letters. This ministry will read letters from one or more sponsored children to the congregation and write letters to the children throughout the year. They will oversee the monthly collection and submission of offering to Compassion International. Our hope is that we can visit our sponsored child (-ren) on a bi-annual basis to partner with Compassion International in discipling them. The team will also obtain an item on which the various children’s names and faces who are being supported by the ministry, as well as individual families, will be displayed.
